WAL4XR

The WAL4XR project is the scientific R&D component of XR Wallonia HITT.
It is a joint effort of Université de Mons (UMONS, ISIA Lab & CLICK), Université de Louvain-la-Neuve (UCLouvain, ISPG Group & MIIL), Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB, LISA lab), Université de Liège (ULiège, LUCID Lab), Université de Namur (UNamur, NADI Institute), together with two research centers : Multitel and Sirris.

From September 2024 to august 2028, WAL4XR will fund a team of 15 PhD students and PostDoc researchers, together with a team of 3 developers to develop disruptive technologies in the field of virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR, AR, MR), broadly referred to as extended reality (XR).

The project will develop technologies and media that enable greater multisensory immersion and user engagement, in order to best collaborate (between users or with the computer) in 3D environments created in an accelerated way (using AI), respecting criteria of cybersecurity, ethics and sustainability.

Throughout the project, their research will be applied to collective and evolving use cases, which will unite the partners and focus technological developments on the needs of the industry of the future in Wallonia.
